New Advanced Studies Students

 

Dr. Elena Garcia-Seco is participating in a one-year internship in equine medicine, surgery and theriogenology in the LSU Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. She received her veterinary degree from the National University of Mexico in Mexico City in 1998.  While obtaining her degree, she completed externships at the University of California, Davis and the University of Minnesota.

 

 

Dr. Tom Hutchins, a native of southwest Oklahoma, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Cameron University in 1996 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 1999.  He will complete a one-year internship in equine medicine and surgery at LSU in June 2000.  Upon completion of his internship, Dr. Hutchins plans to pursue an equine surgery residency and obtain board certification as an equine surgeon with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.  His area of interest is equine lameness and orthopedics.

 

 

Dr. Sandra Murton is a native of Holland.  She received her doctorate degree in veterinary medicine in 1993 from Colorado State University.  She has spent the past six years in Nairobi, Kenya in a mixed animal practice. Dr. Murton is currently in her first year of the residency program in Theriogenology at LSU.  She wishes to pursue board certification in Theriogenology along with a Master of Science degree from the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences with a special interest in the use of acupuncture for treatment of reproductive disorders.
