Leslie Talley is a native of Alabama, but a graduate of Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge.  She has worked for the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine for 13 years as a Laboratory Animal Technician, Exotic Animal Medicine Technician, and Equine Medicine and Surgery Technician.  In the past, she has served as the Raptor and Wildlife Rehabilitation Unit Coordinator, Large Animal Hospital Barn Supervisor, and Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine Diagnostic Technician and Annex Supervisor.  She has been awarded the Operations Staff Management Award in 1997 and the American Association of Laboratory Animal Medicine Technician Merit Award.  Most recently, she has served as the Equine Medicine Service Technician and Foal Team Staff Liaison.  In 1999, Leslie received the Technical Management Support Award based on meritorious service in the hospital.  Leslie’s extensive knowledge and understanding of horses combined with her endless energy and leadership skills enables her to provide superb care for the equine patients of the Large Animal Hospital.  She organizes the Equine Medicine Service and coordinates treatment, grooming, and exercise of all equine patients at the teaching hospital and clinic.  Leslie teaches fourth-year veterinary students technical procedures and basic horse handling skills.  She also assists with the care of the LSU blood donors.  Her outside interests include horseback riding, cooking, restoring old homes, and cycling.
